Privacy Notice

Under General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), you have the following rights over your data and its use:

  • The right to be informed about what data we are collecting on you and how we will use it

  • The right of access - you can ask to see the data we hold on you

  • The right to rectification - you can ask that we update or correct your data

  • The right to object - you can ask that we stop using your data for a particular purpose

  • The right to erasure - you can ask us to delete the data we hold on you

  • The right to restrict processing - you can ask that we temporarily stop using your data while the reason for its use or its accuracy is investigated

  • Though highly unlikely to apply to the data we hold and process on you, you also have rights related to portability and automated decision-making (including profiling)

The Barnsley Concert Band website collects data in two ways:

  1. By visitors filling out our Contact Form

  2. Through Cookie technology creating anonymised data

When a visitor submits a Contact Form, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name and email address and any other personal information you choose to share with us. If you submit information to us by email or through a Contact Form, we will store and use that information for the purposes of processing the query or activity you contacted us about. If the information you have provided can also be used for essential administration of your membership with Barnsley Concert Band, we will use the data for this purpose.

The personal information you provide becomes subject to the Barnsley Concert Band Data Protection Policy.

We will only use that information for the purposes of responding to your enquiry, and we will never pass your information on to any third party for the purpose of marketing etc.

You can ask us to remove all of your personal information from our records at any time by emailing us at info@barnsleyconcertband.co.uk.

Use of children's data

We do not knowingly collect or store any personal information about children under the age of 16.

The use of Cookies

We also collect data using Cookie technology on our website.

'Cookies' are small text files that are stored by the web browser on your computer, tablet, smartphone, or other electronic device. They allow websites to 'remember' you for a period of time so that they can store things like user preferences and make the website quicker and easier for you to use.

We use cookie technology when a person visits our website to collect and analyse anonymised data on how many people have visited, what pages they have looked at and other statistical information.

A visit to a page on the Barnsley Concert Band website will create anonymous analytics cookies. Every time someone visits our website, software provided by WIX generates an anonymous analytics cookie.

These cookies can tell us whether or not you have visited the site before and what pages you visit. Your browser will tell the software if you have these cookies and, if you don't, it generates new ones. This allows us to track how many individual users we have, and how often they visit the site. We use them to gather statistics (for example, the number of visits to a page) to help us identify if visitors would benefit from more information on a particular area.

We use a pop-up banner to let users know about this on their first visit, and they can at any time disable cookies in their browser if they do not wish their (anonymised) data to be tracked.

Without cookies, some things on many websites would not be able to work. For example, without cookies it might not be possible to know whether or not you are logged in on a website, which would prevent you from being able to see content restricted to logged-in users. The Barnsley Concert Band website does not currently have restricted content areas.

How do I turn cookies off?

It is usually possible to stop your browser accepting cookies, or to stop it accepting cookies from a particular website.

All modern browsers allow you to change your cookie settings. You can typically find these settings in the 'options' or 'preferences' menu of your browser. You can use the 'Help' option in your browser for more details.

Third Parties

On the Barnsley Concert Band website ‘Events’ page you may see buttons inviting you to book tickets for one of our concerts. By clicking on one of these buttons you will be directed away from the Barnsley Concert Band website to a third party website (such as Ticketsource) where you can purchase tickets for an event.

These third-party websites will collect personal data from you for the sole purpose of purchasing tickets for an event. They will not share your details with any other organisation (e.g. for the purposes of marketing similar events) unless you explicitly agree with them to your personal information being shared.

For the purpose of ticket sales these third parties will share your personal information (including your name, number of tickets purchased and the amount you spend) with Barnsley Concert Band to enable us to administer the event. No payment method details (e.g. payment card details) will be shared with us.

We will not use any of the information shared with us from third parties for any other purpose (e.g. future events marketing).

How long we will keep your data

Our data retention policy is to review all data held on individuals at least every two years and remove data where we no longer have a legitimate reason to keep it.

Where you have withdrawn your consent for us to use your data for a particular purpose we may retain some of your data for up to two years in order to preserve a record of your consent having been withdrawn.

We reserve the right to modify this privacy notice at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.
